Emirates International Specialist Hospital kick-starts ‘Year of Giving’ initiative this Ramadan
As part of its long-term commitment to give back to the community, Emirates International Specialist Hospital , a multi-specialty hospital in Abu Dhabi and part of Mubadala’s network of world-class healthcare providers, has officially kick-started its ‘Year of Giving’ campaign for 2017 during the Holy Month.
The ‘Year of Giving’ is a collaborative effort between the different departments at Emirates International Specialist Hospital , who have expressed an interest in volunteering their expertise to help bring about positive change for communities of the UAE and the region. The programme is designed to respond to the UAE's President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s declaration that 2017 should be the ‘Year of Giving’.
As part of Emirates International Specialist Hospital ’s initial ‘Year of Giving’ activity, the hospital offered free health checkups and consultations for employees of property solutions provider Khidmah. These employees had their blood pressure and blood sugar levels assessed by a team of Emirates International Specialist Hospital physicians and nurses as a prevention measure, given the high rates of undiagnosed type 2 diabetes registered in the Emirates and the region.
“It was an immensely rewarding experience for us to serve and interact one-on-one with members of our community. As professionals in the field of medicine, we believe it is our duty to use our knowledge and expertise to improve the wellbeing of individuals, and this offered the perfect opportunity”, said Dr. Mai Al Jaber, General Practitioner, Deputy Medical Director, and Head of the Women's Wellness Initiative and Public Health at Emirates International Specialist Hospital , who was also one of the specialists providing free consultations on the ground. “Our ability to serve is further enabled by the patient-centric specialty medical care we provide throughout the year. As the holy month of Ramadan is upon us, the Emirates International Specialist Hospital family’s altruistic spirit is reinforced”, added Dr. Jaber.
