Safety Initiatives and Best Practices at Emirates International Specialist Hospital

As the UAE enters a new phase of its COVID-19 response, we are now resuming our services that were suspended as a precaution during the height of the pandemic.

Since the outbreak started, we have allocated a great deal of time and resources to implementing effective safeguards to protect the health and well being of our patients and caregivers and we are excited to welcome you back, particularly patients who have postponed their medical care due to the recent stay-at-home measures.

Patients and their families can be fully assured that Emirates International Specialist Hospital has officially achieved a ‘COVID-19-free’ status and has put in place stringent protective measure as we resume our services so we are able to provide continuity of care, and offer the highest quality of care in the safest possible environment with world-class patient experience and clinical outcomes.

Inpatient Visits

As per Department of Health Circular DOH Circular 05/2021 (Instructions for Inpatient’s Visits), the following visiting requirements should be adhered to:

  1. All patient’s escorts are required to have a negative COVID-19 PCR result valid for 72 hours.
  2. All patient’s visitors are required to present a COVID-19 PCR result valid for 24 hours at the time of Inpatient- area visit.
  3. All patient’s escorts and visitors are exempted to above requirements if they received COVID-19 vaccine or after the first dose as well. If the status of vaccination is not reflected or not available in Al Hosn App, any other evidence can be relied upon.

Personal protective equipment (PPE)

We work with local suppliers to provide PPE designed to international safety standards to protect both our patients and caregivers. We also follow best practices for PPE to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus, and all Emirates International Specialist Hospital caregivers are fully trained in to safely use PPE.

Surveillance and temperature checks

Emirates International Specialist Hospital will make sure anyone entering the hospital premises gets his or her temperature checked. Anyone with a raised temperature or having COVID-19 symptoms will be seen by one of our physicians in the dedicated fever clinic. All caregivers are also required to check and log their temperature at the beginning of each shift as part of our “daily caregivers surveillance” procedure.  All caregivers are required to complete an online form before their shift begins including their temperature to determine whether they are allowed to the facility and to prevent the spread of infection.

Physical distancing

In line with local and international guidelines, we have rearranged our facility and seating to allow for physical distancing including re-arranged and blocked off seating in public areas. Floor stickers have been placed throughout the hospital to help people maintain a minimum distance of 2 meters from each other.

Masks

All visitors and caregivers must wear a mask at all times while on hospital grounds to prevent the dissemination of the novel coronavirus through coughs, sneezes and even conversation.

Cleaning and sanitization

Emirates International Specialist Hospital is spacing appointments at intervals for the deep sanitization and cleaning of all surfaces and equipment between each patient.

COVID-19 screening

All patients admitted to Emirates International Specialist Hospital are tested for COVID-19 in order to protect other patients and caregivers. Our caregivers are also regularly screened for COVID-19 as part of the hospital’s preventive measures to maintain our COVID-19-free status.

Medication Home Delivery Service

Patients can now request a home delivery for their medications to your doorstep anywhere in the UAE. This allows us to ensure that you are able to receive your prescription safely and in the comfort of your home, without having to collect in person at the pharmacy. Teleconsultations

We are continuing to leverage our teleconsultation services so that we can limit the number of people on site. We offer consultations by phone with our doctors for patients who do not require a physical examination. Find out more about Teleconsultations.
